On June 11, 2020, the Decree of Necessity and Urgency No. 8/2020 of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires was published, through which the Sanitary Emergency originally declared by Decree of Necessity and Urgency No 1/20 was extended until August 31, 2020.
The DNU 1/20 of last August 31, 2020 establishes as the most important measures:
– An exceptional extension for sixty days of driver’s licenses, records of transport of taxis, remises, schoolchildren and vehicles destined for the courier and delivery service as well as taxi licenses.
Also, the validity of the stamps of the Compulsory Vehicle Technical Verification for vehicles located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and school vehicles, taxis, remises, cargo commercial, people transport or large trucks.
– An exceptional extension of the validity of the unique disability certificates for one hundred eighty (180) calendar days, as from its expiration date.
– The suspension for sixty (60) calendar days within the periods established in Law No. 1,217 on the offense procedure.
Both DNU 1/2020 and its extension are measures adopted with the purpose of preventing and reducing the risk of contagion caused by the COVID-19 virus that gave rise to the global pandemic declared by the WHO, as well as mitigating the other effects caused by it.
