New Regulations on Consumer Price Display

On January 17, 2025, Resolution No. 4/2025 of the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (the “Resolution”) was published, establishing new rules for the display of prices of goods and services to final consumers. This measure aims to improve transparency and clarity in price presentation, as well as to simplify the information available to consumers.

Under the new regulations, the obligation to display prices in pesos is maintained, but it is now also permitted to display them in U.S. dollars or other foreign currencies, without the restriction that the foreign currency price must be in smaller characters. Additionally, it is emphasized that the displayed price must be the total price, including taxes, and the price excluding national taxes (such as VAT) must be shown in a smaller font size, accompanied by the legend “PRICE WITHOUT NATIONAL TAXES.”

Furthermore, if financing is offered, merchants must provide information on the cash price, the number and amount of installments, as well as the Total Financial Cost (“CFT”). Additionally, the regulation requires that the price per unit of measure (kilogram, liter, meter, etc.) be indicated in a smaller font size than the final price.

The price display must be clear and easy to read, both on physical signage and websites.

This measure will take effect on April 1, 2025
