On April 16, 2025, through Decree 273/2025 (the “Decree”), the Executive eliminated the requirement for the Import Certificate of Used Goods (“CIBU”, after its spanish acronym), which was previously necessary to bring used equipment and machinery into the country.
This reform removes the prohibitions that existed on importing goods such as oil and gas extraction machines, industrial cutters, die-casting molds (used in the automotive industry), and machinery for the graphic industry, among many others. It impacts a wide range of industrial sectors, from agriculture and mining to oil and gas and manufacturing.
From now on, those who need to import will be able to do it automatically, without the requirement to go through complex procedures that often hinder access to critical production tools, thereby increasing competitiveness by enabling access to lower-cost technology and accelerating investment in strategic sectors.
The Decree came into effect on April 17, 2025.
