On February 26, 2026, Resolution No. 57/2026 (the “Resolution”) issued by the National Communications Authority (“ENACOM”, after its spanish acronym) was published in the Official Gazette of the Argentine Republic. Through this Resolution, new regulations were approved for the Registry of Telecommunications Activities and Materials, the Certification Registry, and the Registry of Telecommunications Laboratories, and a new registry for Certification Agencies was created.
The main aspects of the Resolution are detailed below:
- Approval of the new “Regulation for the Registry of Telecommunications Activities and Materials” (“RAMATEL”); the “Regulation for the Certification Registry of Telecommunications Materials”; and the “Regulation for the Registry of Testing Laboratories for Telecommunications Materials.”
- Creation of a new Registry of Certification Agencies.
- The “Accredited Laboratories Registry” is renamed as the “Registry of Testing Laboratories for Telecommunications Materials.”
- Validity of registrations:
– Existing registrations in the Activities Registry shall remain valid without the need for renewal.
– Existing registrations in the Materials Registry shall remain valid for a period of three years, after which they must comply with the applicable Regulation approved by the Resolution.
– Recognized Laboratories with current registration in the Laboratories Registry shall maintain such status for a period of two years, after which they must comply with the applicable Regulation approved by the Resolution.
– New registrations in the RAMATEL, Certification Agencies, and Laboratories registries shall be granted without an expiration date. - The registration of “Product Families” is introduced for equipment with similar characteristics, along with a flexible list of certifiable materials.
- Products offered on web platforms must mandatorily display the assigned RAMATEL registration number.
- The new RAMATEL Regulation will enter into force on September 1, 2026. Current material registrations will remain valid for three years from the publication of the Resolution.
The Resolution entered into force on February 27, 2026.
