On June 2, 2026, General Resolution 5/2026 (the “Resolution”) of the General Inspectorate of Justice (Inspeccion General de Justicia– “IGJ”) was published in the Official Gazette of the Argentine Republic, digitalizing the registration procedure.
What does the new regulation establish?
The Resolution establishes an entirely digital procedure for the registration of subjects and registrable acts, which will be implemented gradually in accordance with the Implementation Schedule, to be published on the official IGJ website.
In addition, the Resolution establishes the following:
- Exemption from copies: the formalities for submitting the original instrument are maintained, but the obligation to attach copies is eliminated.
- Digital Registration Record: once registration has been completed, a “Digital Record” will be generated containing the filed documents, which constitutes proof of the registry act and shall have full legal effect.
- Digital address on file: the certifying professional must indicate in the registration form the recipient’s details for notification of the Digital Record (name/corporate name, tax identification number associated with the platform, and an alternative email address to remedy any inconsistencies).
- Corrections: to correct an act filed under this procedure, the identification number of the original Digital Record and the recipient’s details for the new record must be cited.
- Particular Resolutions of the Inspector General: when the Schedule incorporates acts requiring them, these will also be issued in electronic form with a digital signature.
- Closing of the paper registry: upon incorporation of the first act requiring a Particular Resolution of the Inspector General, the sequential paper numbering for the current fiscal year will be closed, with digital numbering beginning from the next number, keeping the closed paper series separate for archiving and traceability purposes.
- Pending case files: case files already initiated may opt into this new procedure if the interested party expressly requests it when responding to a notice, establishing the corresponding digital address.
Why is it important?
The measure advances the digitalization of public registries under the IGJ’s purview, replacing physical documentation with digital records bearing electronic signatures and full legal effect. For professionals and companies, this means greater speed in obtaining proof of registration and electronic traceability of registered acts, although implementation will be progressive according to the Schedule defined by the IGJ for each type of act and subject.
Effective date
The Resolution enters into force the day after its publication.
