On May 28, 2026, the National Communications Entity (“ENACOM”) issued Resolution 372/2026 (the “Resolution”), through which it exceptionally authorized Starlink Argentina S.R.L. to operate certain segments of the W Band for ground stations — gateways — of the Fixed-Satellite Service, despite the fact that those frequencies have not yet been allocated to that service in the Argentine Republic.
The measure is issued within the scope of ENACOM’s functions as the telecommunications and audiovisual communications authority, and its purpose is to enable the technical deployment of Starlink’s service in the W Band, while ensuring that such use remains compatible with the national and international regulatory framework.
The Resolution reflects greater regulatory flexibility to support the development of new satellite technologies, while maintaining a case-by-case approach. It establishes that the use must avoid interference, comply with safety standards, and does not grant permanent rights over the band; therefore, it does not constitute a liberalization of the use of those frequencies.
The Resolution entered into force on June 1, 2026.
