AFIP filed a Lawsuit for Tax Data Breach.

On August 29, the Argentine Tax Authorities (“AFIP”) filed a lawsuit for tax data breach and fraud due to the disclosure of information of some important taxpayers. Precisely, on August 27, Página 12, an Argentine newspaper, published information about taxpayers who have adhered to the tax amnesty regime.

AFIP aims to determine how this tax information was breached when tax secrecy was ensured by AFIP so many times. In addition, AFIP dismissed the deputy director of systems and telecommunications, Jorge Linskens, who was in charge of the protection of said data.
