DECISION OF THE SUPREME COURT OF JUSTICE OF THE NATION N° 8/2021 SUSPENSION OF TERMS

On 25 May 2021, Supreme Court of Justice Resolution No. 8/2021 (the “Resolution”) was published in the Official Gazette. In the current epidemiological and sanitary context, for reasons of public health and in accordance with Decree N° 334/2021 -by which the Executive Power provides for new measures of confinement extending Decree N° 287/21 and the term established in its article 30, as well as its complementary norms­-, until 11 June 2021 inclusive: It establishes the suspension of procedural and administrative terms as from 26 until 28 May, included, with respect to the proceedings in progress in the national and federal courts.

The Resolution provides the following:

(i) During those days, the time limits for the expiration of terms shall not run.

(ii) The suspension shall not affect the running of terms of those acts in respect of which, following notification to the interested parties, the judge, official or competent authority so orders.

(iii) Limit to the minimum possible, during the same period, face-to-face attention to the public, except for those procedural actions in which it is indispensable.

(iv) Ensure the minimum possible staff attendance at workplaces, giving priority to the provision of services by virtual or remote means.

(v) To provide that the Domestic Violence Office of the Court will have sufficient staff to carry out its functions.
