In March 23 2022, the Financial Information Unit (“FIU”) reported that the following jurisdictions continue to be under intensified monitoring and that they have strategic deficiencies in the prevention of money laundering: Albania, Barbados, Burkina Faso; Cambodia; Cayman Islands; Haiti, Jamaica, Jordan, Mali, Malta, Morocco, Myanmar, Nicaragua; Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Senegal, South Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Uganda,United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
As “High Risk” remain North Korea and Iran. Obligated parties must pay special attention and report transactions with entities from those jurisdictions.
Also, at the FATF plenary held in Paris from 2 to March 4 2022, that body decided to incorporate the United Arab Emirates as a jurisdiction under intensified monitoring and exclude Zimbabwe from such intensified monitoring.
