The Deliberating Council of the department of Iglesia, in San Juan, approved Municipal Ordinance No. 2059 to regulate mining activity in the region. The regulation establishes conditions on local employment, training, suppliers, bids and creates a municipal mining agency.
Mining companies, at any stage of their projects, must inform the Municipality, through the Employment Office, about the contracted and subcontracted companies, specifying their residence. In addition, all companies are required to have offices and headquarters in the department.
Among the highlights, the regulation includes the creation of a “Mining Working Group” to coordinate actions with the community and a “Municipal Mining Agency” with legislative rank.
