On August 19, 2024, Decree 743/2024 (the “Decree”), which introduces amendments to the regulation of Law No. 25,506 (the “Digital Signature Law”), was published in the Official Gazette. The purpose of the Decree is to flexibilize the procedures for obtaining a digital signature.
The Decree introduces changes in the process of issuance, renewal and revocation of digital certificates, and eliminates the need to carry out procedures in person.
A highlight of the Decree is the possibility of verifying identity remotely, using biometric authentication factors in real time. This means that applicants can now validate their identity without having to physically present themselves at a Registration Authority, which simplifies and speeds up the process of obtaining digital certificates.
The Decree allows Licensed Certifiers to delegate to Registration Authorities the functions of validating identity and other subscriber data.
This decree came into effect on August 20, 2024.
